Rivus in 2025: the year everything clicked.

I often forget that at the start of 2024, we were only two people. By now we’ve grown into six full-time employees, plus a few master students and interns. We’re also operating from our own office and lab with advanced testing infrastructure, recently expanded to 296 m². The bigger change, though, isn’t the square meters. It’s the ownership and speed: a team that takes responsibility and moves fast without missing the details.

On the technology side, we moved from progress to momentum. We grew our test capacity from eight to 24 parallel lab batteries, all within in-house developed nitrogen-filled cell enclosures which give us glovebox performance but at a fraction of the cost and complexity. Also, with a new upgraded electrolyte formulation, we’ve significantly increased both the voltage and energy density - and backed it up with credible, representative testing.

We also took important steps toward commercial reality:
- First patent approved, protecting our pair of organic molecules (and related chemistries) in flow batteries, with three additional patents pending.
- Chemical scale-up, with an optimized route that reduces waste and cost, and hundreds of kilos synthesized with suppliers.
- Five new grant projects secured from Vinnova and Swedish Energy Agency, with partners such as RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Uppsala University, and Compular, spanning electrolyte R&D, BESS simulations, process optimisation, and commercial scale-up.

2025 was the year it all came together. In 2026, we take the next leap. We’re entering 2026 focused on proving our technology at real scale, in commercial flow battery hardware, with more testing capacity and the same systematic approach that got us here.

To our team, advisors, partners, suppliers, and the broader Swedish start-up and R&D ecosystem: thank you for the trust, candid feedback, and hands-on collaboration. We’re building this together- step by step, data point by data point.

Thank you 2025 and a warm welcome to 2026!
