Sweden’s tech impact ecosystem is evolving, and we’re honored to be part of it

Rivus' founders Cedrik Wiberg and Andreas Kölling are listed among the 150 leaders building impactful technology in Sweden in 2026 as selected by Impact Loop 🇸🇪 and Teknikföretagen.

But this recognition is really about our whole team - the people working to turn difficult science into something that can create real-world impact every day. Proud of what we’re building together.

Paraphrased from the nomination:

“Cedrik Wiberg, founder and CEO of Rivus Batteries, is challenging the established battery industry by developing a novel battery technology completely free from metals - an approach that addresses both costs and the geopolitical risks associated with critical raw materials.”

“Andreas Kölling, co-founder and COO of Rivus Batteries, is driving the practical scaling of one of the most unusual battery concepts to emerge from Sweden - technology that stores energy without cobalt, lithium, or other critical metals that risk becoming geopolitical bottlenecks.”

At Rivus, we’re building what we believe could become one of the simplest and most scalable paths to low-cost, resilient European energy storage manufacturing: substituting just one component in an existing technology - the chemistry. Shifting from costly, corrosive, imported vanadium-based electrolytes to our metal-free, low-cost, non-corrosive organic electrolytes, produced in only a few reaction steps from abundant bulk chemicals.

And most importantly: to everyone building technology that makes Europe and the world more resilient, less dependent on fossil fuels, and less exposed to scarce materials and fragile supply chains concentrated in unstable, undemocratic or autocratic regions - keep going.
