We’re happy to share that Narendiran Raveendiran is joining Rivus full-time as a Lab Engineer!
Narendiran joined Rivus a year ago to do his master’s thesis, continued with a six-month paid internship through InnoNext Project. He’s now taken the step into a full-time role, and we’re incredibly happy (and proud) to keep building with him!
Narendiran holds a Double Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. In his thesis, he explored how pH affects the stability of Rivus’ electrolyte molecules in aqueous flow batteries - a key factor for performance and lifetime. His work combined symmetric flow battery testing with in-situ monitoring of pH, CO₂, O₂, and Cl₂ to better understand degradation pathways and improve stability.
Beyond the technical contribution, what stood out early on was his curiosity, ownership mindset and ability to learn fast. Narendiran describes why he chose a startup path:
- “I had three thesis offers. Two were very structured and detailed. With Rivus it was: ‘You’ll work on our actual problems when you get here.’ That’s what I wanted.”
And why he stayed:
- “During my thesis I went deep into one topic and realized that research is what I enjoy. When I was offered the internship, and later the full-time role, a lot of worries about my career and future went away.”
Today, his days revolve around building, testing, and reporting on batteries, with plenty of learning in between:
- “I love the combination of hands-on responsibility, variation, and being surrounded by knowledgeable people. I work on something meaningful, plus I learn a lot, so it’s become a constant positive loop.”
Outside the lab, Narendiran enjoys chess and running, and brings calm focus, curiosity and positive energy into the team every day.
